Short answers to the questions players ask most. The full player rules are on their own page.
What are rank bands?
Medals are grouped into four bands so that players of a similar level meet: Herald to Guardian, Crusader to Archon, Legend to Ancient, and Divine to Immortal. You may enter a higher band than your own, never a lower one.
How can I enter a tournament?
As a full team of five, as a partial team that wants fill-in players, or on your own. Which ways are open depends on the tournament. After registration closes, partial teams and solo players are placed into teams.
Does entering cost money?
No. Entry costs tickets, and tickets come from tokens you earned by playing. Nobody pays money to enter a tournament.
How is a result decided?
Players do not type scores. A result comes from verified match data when it is available, otherwise a team captain says who won. The other side then accepts it or reports it, and silence counts as acceptance.
What happens when someone reports a result?
The match is marked as disputed and the prizes of that tournament are held. An admin reviews the evidence and decides. A report that is dismissed as baseless earns the reporter a strike.
When are prizes paid?
After the final result window closes with no open report. The window for cash tournaments is longer than for free ones, because more is at stake.
Are there cash tournaments?
Cash tournaments appear only once GGTime has opened them. When they run, the prize pool is fixed and funded by GGTime, and it is never made of entry fees.
What if the checks flag me?
Automatic checks can admit you, send your case to an admin, or reject your entry with a reason. A rejection can be appealed once. A permanent ban or a lost prize is always an admin decision.
Can I host my own tournament?
Yes. Free tournaments can be hosted by any player, up to the monthly limit of your membership. Cash tournaments are run by GGTime.
